Wilma Hansen Jr. High

Residency May 2000

For two weeks Mr. David Thiaw was a guest lecturer at Wilma Hansen. Social Studies, Fine Arts and Language arts were the reciepients of music, videos and information on Africa. Mr Thiaw shared his assortment of artifacts including instruments, clothing, cooking, cooking utensils, coins, etc. On his last day at Wilma he held a performance for all the students in the gym with his professional band. It was a day to remember.

Mr Thiaw informs 8-16 students on African instruments. Band students are mesmerised by Mr. Thiaw's incredible story of his culture. Mr Thiaw and 8-16 go through a collection of African Artifacts.    Band Students listen to Mr. Thiaw's lecture. Mr. Thiaw and his band sing on stage. After a hard days work Mr. Thiaw packs up.
